About the Cms Speed 3- or 4-Axis CNC Stone Machining Centre

The CMS Brembana Speed range consists of highly configurable 3- or 4-axis CNC machining centres developed for processing slabs and solid blocks, including high-thickness materials.

Suitable materials include marble, granite, natural stone, synthetic stone, engineered stone and ceramic.

The machines can quickly and accurately perform rough or polished edge contouring, profiling, milling, drilling, countersinking, pocketing, bas-relief work, engraving and lettering.

The Speed range is designed around the requirements of modern stone workshops and can be configured for flexible worktop production, high-output pendulum machining or larger customised working areas.

The available configurations are:

  • CMS Brembana Speed MB
  • CMS Brembana Speed TR
  • CMS Brembana Speed OF
  • CMS Brembana Speed OF with double worktable

The Speed MB is the monoblock version. It combines the machine structure, worktable, electrical cabinet and main systems within a compact installation.

The Speed TR incorporates a rotating worktable divided into two working zones. While the machine processes components in one area, the operator can unload finished work and prepare new blanks in the other.

Once preparation is complete, the table rotates and brings the next batch into the protected machining area. CMS states that this arrangement can increase productivity by up to 38% compared with a standard machine, depending on the part and process.

The Speed OF uses separate steel support shoulders rather than a monoblock base. This allows the working dimensions and machine layout to be configured around larger components and specialist production requirements.

The double-worktable Speed OF version is designed for pendulum machining. One table can be loaded or prepared while machining continues on the other, helping reduce non-productive setup time.

The Speed range is available with three interpolated axes or an optional continuous 360-degree C axis. The fourth axis allows angular transmissions and specialist tooling to rotate around the workpiece.

A CMS-designed liquid-cooled electrospindle is available with power up to 30 kW. CMS states that the high-power spindle can reduce cycle times by up to 21%, depending on the material, tool and machining operation.

Dynamic feed adjustment and automatic tool-wear compensation help maintain productivity, dimensional accuracy and edge quality as tools wear.

The modular tool-storage system can provide between 12 and 120 automatic tool-change stations. CMS also states that up to 128 tools can be installed using suitable in-line and under-beam magazines.

Optional equipment includes a three-position tilting head for sloping drainers, thickness measurement, laser suction-cup projection, laser tool presetting, angular transmissions, a rotary turning unit and dedicated tooling for 90-degree sink processing.

EasyStone CAD/CAM software manages drawing, programming, tool selection, suction-cup placement, polishing pressure, machining simulation, processing time and production cost.

CMS Active provides a common touchscreen interface for machine operation, user management, shift monitoring and tool-life control.

CMS Connect allows connected-machine monitoring, production analysis, alarm history and maintenance support through an IoT platform.
