About the Cms Brembana Kratos 5-Axis CNC Bridge Saw
The brembana kratos is the new generation of 5-axis CNC bridge saw. Its robust, open-frame construction fits easily into both fabshops and automated production lines.
The CMS Brembana Kratos is a new-generation five-axis CNC bridge saw designed for maximum strength, productivity and machining flexibility.
Its robust open-frame construction allows the machine to fit into both conventional stone-processing workshops and fully automated production lines. The machine is suitable for applications ranging from thin ceramic kitchen-worktop slabs to strips cut from hard-stone blocks up to 250 mm thick.
Five interpolated axes allow the cutting head to perform straight, shaped, vertical and inclined cuts, together with mitres and complex multi-axis machining. The head rotates through 370ยฐ and tilts from 0ยฐ to 90ยฐ, enabling accurate cutting across a wide range of component geometries.
The Kratos combines a powerful 18.5 kW blade motor with additional tool-processing capability. Diamond blades from 300 to 725 mm can be used, allowing the machine to process workpieces up to 250 mm thick.
A key advantage of the Kratos is that three tools can remain available without operator intervention:
- the main diamond blade;
- drills, core drills or polishing tools operating at up to 6,000 rpm;
- cylindrical cutters or engraving tools operating at up to 14,000 rpm with the optional side spindle.
This arrangement allows cutting, drilling, milling, lettering, engraving, shallow relief machining and selected polishing operations to be combined without repeatedly removing the blade or changing the primary tool manually.
The optional 3.7 kW side electrospindle operates at up to 14,000 rpm. It can be used for high-speed drilling, milling, engraving, lettering and bas-relief work that would not be practical with the main blade motor alone.
The Kratos can also be equipped with a vacuum manipulator with a lifting capacity of up to 500 kg. Its wide gripping span and enlarged suction surface are divided into multiple zones, allowing it to handle anything from long, narrow splashbacks to jumbo slabs.
The manipulator can automatically lift and reposition cut components on the table. This helps optimise the cutting sequence, reduce manual handling and allow interfering cuts to be completed automatically.
CMS states that the manipulator provides a 92% greater gripping width than comparable competing systems and that the Kratos offers a 16% larger working area, allowing inclined cutting across the entire slab, including super-jumbo formats. These are manufacturer comparisons and should be presented as CMS claims rather than independently verified figures.
The standard machine includes an inverter-controlled electrospindle operating from 0 to 6,000 rpm for diamond tools such as end mills and core drills. It also includes a cross laser, electrical-cabinet air conditioning, an integrated blade-storage casing and a full rear safety guard.
The Kratos worktable measures 3800 ร 2500 mm and supports a static load of up to 3000 kg. The tilting-table load capacity is up to 2000 kg, making the machine suitable for heavy slabs and demanding production environments.
The worktable can be supplied in fixed or tilting form, with a hot-dip galvanised structure and rubber or cutting-mat working surface. Optional table extensions allow components to be repositioned when cutting geometries would otherwise interfere with the blade path.
An optional integrated camera captures an image of the actual slab on the worktable. This supports faster positioning, defect identification, nesting, vein matching and more efficient material utilisation.
Additional options include a tool and blade presetter, automatic blade-dressing system, remote-control pendant, barcode reader, slab-thickness probe, underside cutting and drilling unit, and lathes for cylindrical stone components.
The underside-processing unit can machine the bottom face of the slab for worktop supports and can be equipped with drilling capability for fixing holes. These operations are managed automatically and require the vacuum manipulator.
The Kratos can be configured as a standalone bridge saw or as part of a larger automated production system. Available special configurations include pallet-changing systems, pendular working areas, belt-table production lines and the combined Kratos Jet sawjet version.
CMS Smart Saw software supports manual, semi-automatic and automatic operation, including single, multiple, circular, horizontal and parametric cuts. Dedicated functions are available for tile cutting, 90ยฐ and 45ยฐ work, template copying and surface flattening.
EasySTONE CAD/CAM supports more advanced processes including drilling, milling, profiling, polishing, engraving, lettering and pocketing. It can import DXF, IGES, STL, STEP, SAT and Rhino files and provides a three-dimensional simulation of the complete machining cycle before production begins.
CMS Active for Bridge Saws provides a touchscreen interface with ready-to-use machining processes and guided tool setup. CMS Connect can also be integrated for production monitoring, alarm history, diagnostics, maintenance planning and performance analysis.
Stone & Glass Group supplies the CMS Brembana Kratos throughout the United Kingdom and Ireland, supported by project consultation, factory-layout planning, installation, commissioning, operator training, software support, tooling, spare parts and ongoing technical service.
