About the Bovone ELB 9+2 Glass Edging and Grooving Machine

The Bovone ELB 9+2 is a specialised straight-line glass edging machine designed to produce precision grooves, flat edges and arrises in a single processing pass.

Developed for applications requiring an accurately controlled profile along the edge of the glass, the ELB 9+2 eliminates the need to transfer the panel between separate machines or change the machine setup between grooving and edge-finishing operations.

Its dedicated wheel configuration can produce an L-shaped groove alongside the flat edge and arrises. This creates an accurately machined profile suitable for applications where glass panels or slabs must couple together precisely.

Completing the full profile in one pass improves dimensional consistency and makes the production process easier to control. It also reduces glass handling, processing time and the possibility of tolerance differences between separate operations.

The ELB 9+2 is particularly suited to architectural glass, interior-design products, furniture, home appliances and specialist applications requiring repeatable groove geometry and a high-quality finished edge.

Working speed is continuously adjustable from 0.35 to 5.4 m/min, allowing the processing parameters to be matched to the glass thickness, groove specification, required material removal and finishing quality.

The machine processes glass from 3 to 30 mm thick. Without grooving, glass up to 6 mm thick can be processed from 40 ร— 40 mm. Glass up to 19 mm can be processed from 50 ร— 50 mm or 40 ร— 80 mm, while glass above 19 mm can be processed from 70 ร— 70 mm.

When grooving is required on glass above 19 mm thick, the published minimum sizes are 70 ร— 70 mm or 50 ร— 80 mm.

The tooling configuration was developed through Bovoneโ€™s work with Bovone Diamond Tools. The dedicated grinding-wheel arrangement supports precise groove geometry, consistent tolerances and reliable finishing throughout continuous production.

The machine is built around Bovoneโ€™s robust cast-iron base frame, providing the rigidity and stability needed for accurate grooving and edge processing. This construction helps reduce vibration, resist machine torsion and maintain repeatable results over long production cycles.

Simple and user-friendly control software helps operators manage production parameters efficiently, while the machine design simplifies wheel setup, tooling adjustment and routine maintenance.

The ELB 9+2 can operate as a standalone machine or be integrated with conveyors, glass washing equipment and automated loading and unloading systems. It can also form part of a Bovone BRS automated processing system for high-productivity production.

Stone & Glass Group supplies the Bovone ELB 9+2 throughout the United Kingdom, Ireland and the Benelux, supported by installation, commissioning, operator training, tooling, spare parts, servicing and comprehensive after-sales support.
