About the Bovone ELB 17/45 Variable-Angle Glass Edging Machine

The Bovone ELB 17/45 is the most complete variable-angle straight-line glass edging machine in the Bovone ELB range, designed to grind and polish flat edges, inclined edges and both arrises in a single pass.

Its 17-wheel configuration includes three additional wheels specifically dedicated to the polishing stages. This advanced wheel arrangement enables the machine to achieve exceptional finishing standards across the complete glass-edge profile.

The ELB 17/45 polishes the flat or inclined edge and both the front and rear arrises with cerium. Completing all three finishing processes simultaneously produces a bright, consistent and exceptionally high-quality result without requiring the glass to be transferred between separate machines.

The mitre angle is continuously adjustable from 0ยฐ to 45ยฐ, allowing the machine to produce standard flat edges and precision inclined edges for architectural, interior, furniture, display and specialist glass applications.

Working speed is continuously adjustable from 0.35 to 5.4 m/min. Production parameters can therefore be matched to the glass thickness, mitre angle, material-removal requirement and required finishing quality.

The machine processes glass from 3 to 50 mm thick as standard, with an optional configuration available for glass up to 60 mm.

Minimum glass sizes depend on the glass thickness and selected processing arrangement. For glass up to 19 mm thick, the published minimum sizes include 85 ร— 85 mm, 110 ร— 110 mm and 140 ร— 140 mm. For glass from 19 to 60 mm thick, the minimum sizes include 110 ร— 110 mm, 140 ร— 140 mm and 160 ร— 160 mm.

The ELB 17/45 can produce a front arris up to 10 mm wide and a rear arris up to 5 mm wide. This expanded front-arris capability provides additional flexibility for applications requiring a more pronounced polished arris.

Processing the flat or inclined edge and both arrises in one pass improves production efficiency and reduces glass handling. It also helps minimise the risk of scratching, chipping or otherwise compromising the processed panel while moving it between separate operations.

The ELB 17/45 is built around Bovoneโ€™s robust cast-iron machine base. This rigid construction provides the stability required for accurate variable-angle processing and helps reduce vibration and resist machine torsion during continuous production.

Simple and user-friendly control software allows operators to manage production settings efficiently and switch between flat and inclined edge processing. The machine is designed to simplify wheel setup, tooling adjustment and routine maintenance.

The ELB 17/45 can operate as a standalone variable-angle edging machine or be integrated with conveyors, glass washing equipment and automated loading and unloading systems. It is particularly well suited to fully automated Bovone robotic processing cells where production quality, repeatability and reduced manual handling are priorities.

Stone & Glass Group supplies the Bovone ELB 17/45 throughout the United Kingdom, Ireland and the Benelux, supported by installation, commissioning, operator training, tooling, spare parts, servicing and comprehensive after-sales support.
