Bovone ELB 12 HS High-Speed Straight-Line Glass Edging Machine

The Bovone ELB 12 HS is a high-performance straight-line glass edging machine developed for glass processors requiring exceptional flat-edge quality combined with sustained high production speeds.

The ELB 12 series represents the highest level of Bovone’s flat-edge polishing technology. The ELB 12 HS, or High Speed, version is specifically designed to maintain consistently high finishing quality while operating at speeds of up to 10 m/min.

Its 12-wheel configuration provides a complete grinding, arrising and polishing sequence in a single pass. The additional processing positions allow the machine to remove material efficiently while distributing the workload across the grinding and polishing wheels, supporting high-speed production without compromising the quality of the finished glass edge.

The machine produces precision flat edges with polished arrises and is particularly suitable for demanding architectural, furniture, interior and industrial glass-processing applications where productivity and edge appearance are equally important.

Working speed is continuously adjustable from 0.35 to 10 m/min. This wide speed range allows the machine to be configured for different glass thicknesses, material-removal requirements, edge dimensions and finishing standards.

The ELB 12 HS processes glass from 2 to 60 mm thick as standard, making it suitable for both conventional processed glass and heavier specialist panels.

Minimum glass sizes depend on the glass thickness. Glass up to 6 mm thick can be processed from 40 × 40 mm. Glass up to 19 mm can be processed from 50 × 50 mm or 40 × 80 mm. For glass above 19 mm, the minimum size is 70 × 70 mm.

The polishing system can use liquid cerium to produce an exceptionally bright, clear and consistent polished edge. This premium finish makes the ELB 12 HS particularly suitable for products where the visual quality of the exposed glass edge is critical.

The machine is constructed around Bovone’s heavy-duty cast-iron base frame. This rigid structure provides exceptional stability during high-speed production, helping to minimise vibration, resist machine torsion and maintain accurate grinding and polishing over long working cycles.

Precision spindle technology and simple, user-friendly control software allow operators to manage production parameters efficiently. The machine is designed to simplify grinding-wheel adjustment, tooling setup and routine maintenance while supporting dependable continuous operation.

The ELB 12 HS is also available in a Fully Automatic configuration. Depending on the selected specification, automated functions can include wheel-wear compensation, rapid wheel setup and visual and audible warnings when grinding or polishing wheels require replacement.

The machine can be installed as a standalone high-speed edger or integrated with conveyors, Bovone BVR vertical glass washers and robotic loading and unloading equipment. It is also suitable for inclusion within a complete Bovone Robotic System for automated and operator-free glass processing.
