Bovone ELB 12 100 Straight-Line Glass Edging Machine for Thick Glass

The Bovone ELB 12 100 is a straight-line glass edging machine specifically developed for glass processors that need to grind and polish exceptionally thick glass panels.

As part of Bovone’s ELB 12 range, the machine combines a 12-wheel processing configuration with the capacity to process glass from 2 to 100 mm thick while maintaining Bovone’s high standards of flat-edge polishing quality.

The complete grinding, arrising and polishing sequence is carried out in a single pass. The 12 processing positions distribute material removal and finishing across multiple wheels, supporting excellent edge flatness, clarity and consistency on demanding thick-glass applications.

Working speed is continuously adjustable from 0.35 to 5.4 m/min. This allows the machine settings to be matched to the glass thickness, amount of material being removed, edge dimensions and required finishing quality.

The ELB 12 100 can process glass from 2 to 100 mm thick. When equipped with Bovone VHLS conveyors, the machine can handle individual glass slabs weighing up to 2250 kg, subject to the final line configuration and glass-handling specification.

Minimum glass sizes vary according to thickness. Glass up to 6 mm thick can be processed from 40 × 40 mm. Glass up to 19 mm can be processed from 50 × 50 mm or 40 × 80 mm. For glass above 20 mm, the published minimum size is 70 × 70 mm.

The machine is available in configurations with or without liquid cerium. The liquid-cerium polishing system produces an exceptionally bright and clear polished edge for applications where the appearance of the exposed glass edge is particularly important.

The ELB 12 100 is built around Bovone’s robust cast-iron machine base and extended machine configuration. This construction provides the rigidity and stability required to support thick and heavy glass panels while reducing vibration and resisting machine torsion during processing.

Precision spindle technology and simple, user-friendly control software help operators manage production parameters efficiently. The machine is designed to simplify tooling setup, wheel adjustment and routine maintenance while providing dependable performance over long production cycles.

A Fully Automatic configuration is also available. Depending on the final specification, automatic functions can include grinding-wheel wear compensation, rapid wheel setup and visual and audible warnings when wheels require replacement.

The machine can operate as a standalone thick-glass edging machine or be integrated with VHLS conveyors, glass washing equipment and automated loading and unloading systems. It can also be incorporated into complete automated Bovone glass-processing lines.
