Bovone ELB 11/45 Variable-Angle Glass Edging Machine

The Bovone ELB 11/45 is a high-performance variable-angle straight-line glass edging machine designed to produce exceptionally high-quality flat and inclined glass edges.

Its eleven-wheel configuration includes an additional wheel dedicated specifically to edge polishing. The use of two polishing wheels improves the final surface quality and enables the machine to achieve results comparable to liquid-cerium polishing, while maintaining high and consistent production performance.

The ELB 11/45 can produce standard flat edges or mitred edges at continuously adjustable angles from 0° to 45°. This makes it suitable for architectural glass, furniture, interior applications, display glass and other specialist products requiring precise mitres and a premium polished finish.

Working speeds are continuously adjustable from 0.35 to 5.4 m/min, allowing production parameters to be matched to the glass thickness, mitre angle, edge dimensions and required finishing quality.

The machine processes glass from 3 to 30 mm thick as standard, with an optional configuration for glass up to 60 mm. It can produce arrises up to 5 mm wide alongside flat or inclined edge processing.

Minimum glass sizes depend on the glass thickness and processing configuration. For glass up to 12 mm thick, the published minimum sizes include 65 × 65 mm, 85 × 85 mm and 105 × 105 mm. For glass between 12 and 30 mm thick, minimum sizes include 80 × 80 mm, 100 × 100 mm, 150 × 150 mm and 90 × 200 mm.

The ELB 11/45 is equipped as standard with automatic wear compensation for the flat-edge polishing wheels. An air-adjustment system for the polishing spindles helps optimise wheel consumption, extend tooling life and maintain consistent polishing performance throughout production.

The machine is constructed around Bovone’s heavy-duty cast-iron base frame. This extremely rigid structure reduces vibration and prevents machine torsion during processing, supporting excellent grinding accuracy, consistent edge quality and reduced mechanical wear.

Simple and intuitive control software enables operators to manage production parameters and change between different processing requirements efficiently. Stored processing recipes can help simplify setup and reduce the time required when changing from one production batch to another.

The ELB 11/45 is also available in a Fully Automatic configuration. Depending on the selected specification, automatic functions can include wheel-wear recovery, rapid wheel setup and visual and audible warnings when grinding or polishing wheels require replacement.

The machine can operate as a standalone variable-angle edging machine or be integrated with glass conveyors, washing machines and robotic loading and unloading equipment. It is also suitable for inclusion within complete Bovone Robotic Systems for automated glass processing.
