About the Trimwire Single-Wire
The Pellegrini Trimwire is a unique mobile single-wire diamond saw developed for squaring natural stone blocks and cutting thick slabs directly in the quarry.
It combines the cutting characteristics of a stationary diamond wire saw with the mobility of a quarry machine. The complete cutting structure is installed on a tracked, diesel-powered vehicle, allowing Trimwire to move independently around the quarry without requiring an external electrical power supply.
This mobility allows blocks to be processed close to where they are extracted. Instead of transporting irregular blocks to a fixed processing machine, Trimwire can be positioned alongside the material for block squaring, slabbing and inclined cutting.
Once positioned, the machine is stabilised using four hydraulic stabilisers. The cutting arch is raised to the required height and opened to align the diamond wire with the face of the block.
Vertical cutting is achieved by movement of the cutting arch along the machine column. The diamond wire runs around a 1,000 mm main flywheel and 600 mm guide wheels, with wire speed reaching up to 40 m/s.
One of Trimwire's particularly useful features is the ability of the complete cutting structure to travel along 4 metres of integrated rails on top of the tracked carrier. This allows parallel cuts at different positions without having to reposition the complete machine each time.
The system can achieve a maximum second parallel cut distance of 4 metres, making it possible to produce different block or slab thicknesses from a single machine position.
All machine movements are hydraulically driven, while the main operating functions are controlled remotely by radio control, allowing the operator to manage the cutting operation from a suitable position around the machine.
Trimwire can process blocks up to approximately 3.8 metres wide and 2.5 metres high, providing substantial capacity for quarry blocks. Its tracked undercarriage provides autonomous movement at two speeds and can negotiate slopes of up to approximately 30% (17ยฐ) in low speed.
Despite its substantial cutting capacity, Trimwire has been designed with quarry-to-quarry mobility in mind and can be configured for transportation by trailer.
For quarry operators, the result is a highly flexible machine capable of carrying out block dressing, squaring and thick slab production at the quarry, potentially reducing unnecessary transportation of unprocessed stone and allowing valuable blocks to be prepared before they leave the extraction site.
Stone & Glass Group is the official Pellegrini Meccanica agency for the United Kingdom and Ireland, providing machine specification, quarry application support, installation, commissioning, servicing, spare parts and ongoing technical support.
