Double Top Multi Wire

The Pellegrini Double Top is a flexible two-wire diamond saw designed for slab production, block squaring and block dressing. As the smallest multi-wire solution in the Pellegrini range, it provides an effective step between conventional single-wire cutting and larger multi-wire production systems.

The machine uses two independent diamond wires, allowing two parallel cuts to be performed simultaneously. This makes Double Top particularly suitable for stone processors that need greater productivity than a single-wire machine while retaining considerable flexibility over finished material thickness.

Slab thickness can be adjusted from 21 mm to 601 mm, allowing the production of both conventional slabs and substantially thicker stone sections. The system can accommodate both metric and imperial dimensions, as well as non-standard thicknesses required for specialist architectural and dimensional-stone applications.

The distance between the diamond wires is automatically adjustable, and the control system allows the operator to program both the number of cuts and changes in thickness between successive cuts. This makes it possible to process different thicknesses automatically within the cutting sequence.

Double Top incorporates four 2,350 mm diameter wheels. The large wheel diameter helps reduce bending of the diamond wire during operation, while the two wires are independently tensioned. Published specifications give a variable diamond-wire speed of 0–40 m/s.

The machine is controlled through a PLC system, supporting automatic cutting sequences and variable slab thickness production.

An additional advantage is the ability to operate with a single diamond wire when required. This extends the machine's flexibility beyond the normal two-wire thickness range and also allows it to be used for block dimensioning and squaring.

Double Top is available as a stationary machine, typically served by a block trolley, or in a Roller version, where the machine travels along precision rails. This allows the installation to be configured around the available factory space and preferred block-handling arrangement.

For stone processors producing a mixture of standard slabs, thick slabs and dimensional stone, Pellegrini Double Top provides a particularly versatile solution, combining two-wire productivity with single-wire-style flexibility.
