About the Bovone Stonedge 9+1 Stone and Ceramic Edge Polishing Machine
The Bovone Stonedge 9+1 is a specialised straight-line edge polishing machine developed for ceramic, stone and engineered-material kitchen worktops with polished flat edges.
Its configuration comprises nine wheels dedicated to grinding and polishing the flat edge, together with one additional wheel for calibrating the rear surface of the slab.
The rear-calibration wheel removes material from a 40 mm-wide strip along the back of the workpiece. This cleans and flattens the rear surface while the visible flat edge is processed, allowing both operations to be completed during the same production pass.
Rear calibration can be activated or bypassed according to the processing requirement. This gives manufacturers the flexibility to polish only the flat edge or combine edge finishing and rear preparation within one controlled operation.
The rear-calibrated strip is particularly useful when components must be joined, bonded or handled against a consistent reference surface. Removing surface irregularities helps create a smooth, flat area at the back of the slab without requiring a separate calibration machine or additional manual preparation.
Completing both processes in one pass reduces handling, shortens production times and helps minimise the risk of damaging the workpiece while moving it between separate machines.
Using one dedicated wheel for rear calibration also limits unnecessary tooling wear and can reduce maintenance and operating costs compared with systems using several calibration positions.
The Stonedge 9+1 is particularly suited to large-format ceramic slabs and kitchen-countertop production. Bovone introduced the model specifically to address the requirements of manufacturers processing ceramic worktops with polished 90ยฐ flat edges.
The machine works at continuously adjustable speeds from 0.35 to 5.4 m/min and processes materials from 2 to 50 mm thick.
For materials up to 19 mm thick, the published minimum sizes are 85 ร 85 mm or 70 ร 200 mm. For materials above 19 mm thick, the minimum published size is 110 ร 110 mm.
The nine-wheel edging sequence is designed to produce a smooth, straight and consistently polished flat edge with a high-quality visual and tactile finish.
The Stonedge 9+1 is suitable for ceramic, porcelain, sintered surfaces, engineered materials and selected natural stone applications, subject to the tooling configuration confirmed in the final quotation.
Stone & Glass Group supplies the Bovone Stonedge 9+1 throughout the United Kingdom, Ireland and the Benelux, supported by installation, commissioning, operator training, Bovone Diamond Tools, spare parts, servicing and comprehensive after-sales support.
