About the CMS Brembana Maxima 5/6-Axis CNC Stone & Masonry Machining Centre

The CMS Brembana Maxima is a new-generation 5/6-axis CNC machining centre designed to complete cutting, routing, profiling, drilling, polishing and sculpting operations within a single machine.

It is suitable for stone fabrication workshops, architectural stone companies and stonemasons that require greater flexibility than a conventional worktop machining centre.

The Maxima can process natural stone, marble, granite, engineered stone, composite materials and ceramic. It is suitable for both slab processing and thicker architectural or masonry components.

Typical applications include kitchen worktops, vanity tops, architectural stonework, faรงades, fireplaces, door and window surrounds, stairs, thresholds, furniture, memorials, street furniture, carved components and sculpture.

Its interpolated rotary axes allow the machining head to approach the material from different angles. This enables variable-angle cutting, three-dimensional profiling, carving, sculpting and complex edge or surface machining without repeatedly repositioning the workpiece.

The Maxima can carry out complete production programs from the original slab through to the finished component within one machine footprint.

Depending on the selected configuration, it can perform:

  • Straight and inclined blade cutting
  • Routing and milling
  • Drilling and core drilling
  • Internal cut-outs
  • Edge profiling and polishing
  • Three-dimensional profiling
  • Convex and concave surface machining
  • Engraving and lettering
  • Bas-relief machining
  • Sculptural work
  • Variable-angle polished bevelling
  • Surface brushing and finishing
  • Worktop production
  • Architectural and dimensional stone machining

The heavy mechanical structure is designed to absorb the forces generated during demanding cutting and milling operations while maintaining consistent accuracy over time.

A high-torque Hiteco electrospindle provides up to 28 kW of power and 119 Nm of torque at 2200 rpm on the Open Frame version. This makes the Maxima suitable for demanding operations ranging from large-diameter blade cutting to heavy milling.

Automatic tool-wear control and dynamic cutting-speed management help maintain productivity and finished quality as tooling wears or spindle load changes.

The automatic ISO 40 tool-change system can manage cutting blades, polishing tools, routers, drill bits, profiling wheels and angular gearboxes.

Depending on the version, the machine can be configured with tool magazines ranging from 19 to 180 positions, together with dedicated blade stations.

The Maxima is available in two principal configurations:

  • CMS Brembana Maxima MB โ€“ Monoblock version
  • CMS Brembana Maxima OF โ€“ Open Frame version

The Monoblock version provides an integrated machine structure for standard slab, worktop and component production.

The Open Frame version offers greater accessibility and more flexible working dimensions. It can be configured with different Y-axis and Z-axis travels, alternative worktables and specialist equipment for architectural masonry and automation.

Optional vacuum manipulation allows the machine to lift and reposition components weighing up to 500 kg. This supports more automated production and reduces operator handling.

The removable rubber cutting surface allows the machine to switch between blade cutting and machining operations.

A slab-thickness probe automatically records the actual thickness of stone or ceramic before production.

Laser presetting measures tool length and diameter, reducing manual setting and supporting accurate monitoring of tool wear.

A blade-redressing station can restore blade performance through a programmed cycle controlled from the operator interface.

CMS Active with SmartSaw provides a touchscreen-based interface for cutting, drilling, profiling, worktop production, nesting, simulation and manual machine control.

EasyStone Premium CAD/CAM manages complex five-axis machining, three-dimensional surfaces, sculpture, variable-angle polishing, lathe operations and blade cutting.

Special configurations can include pendulum production, a rotating worktable and integration into automatic slab-processing lines with loading, cutting, contouring and storage.

Stone & Glass Group supplies and supports the CMS Brembana Maxima throughout the UK and Ireland, including application assessment, machine specification, factory-layout planning, installation, commissioning, operator training, software, tooling, spare parts and technical service.
