About the CMS Brembana G-Rex 5/6-Axis CNC Stone & Masonry Machining Centre
The CMS Brembana G-Rex is a heavy-duty 5/6-axis CNC machining centre developed for processing stone slabs, solid blocks and ultra-thick components.
It is particularly suited to architectural stone companies, dimensional-stone producers, stonemasons and workshops carrying out demanding construction, sculptural and restoration work.
The machine can process marble, granite, natural stone, composite stone and ceramic, carrying out rough and polished contouring, milling, drilling, countersinking, bas-relief machining, engraving, lettering and blade cutting.
Its rigid Open Frame construction provides the stability required for heavy cutting and deep machining, while allowing the machine to be configured around large workpieces and extended production areas.
The G-Rex is available with five or six interpolated axes. Its rotary B and C axes allow the machining head to approach the material from multiple directions for complex three-dimensional work.
CMS states that pneumatic brakes on the rotary axes increase stiffness by up to 43%, supporting improved precision and surface quality during demanding machining.
One of the key advantages of the G-Rex is its exceptional Z-axis capacity. Configurations are available with Z-axis travel of 900, 1400 or 2000 mm, making the machine suitable for very thick workpieces, blocks and large architectural stone components.
The machine can be equipped with cutting blades up to 1200 mm in diameter, allowing it to handle deep cuts and heavy block-processing applications.
The G-Rex uses an ISO 50 electrospindle, available with power of 13 kW or 23 kW. The 23 kW version delivers torque up to 220 Nm at 1000 rpm, making it suitable for heavy milling and deep material removal.
Tool storage is highly configurable. The machine can be fitted with tool magazines in multiples of 11 positions, together with dedicated blade holders.
A wide range of worktables is available, including fixed aluminium tables with or without slots, tilting aluminium tables, removable worktables and fixed or tilting rubber-covered worktables.
Optional vacuum manipulators can move components weighing up to 1000 kg, reducing manual handling and supporting safer production of large stone pieces.
The machine can also be equipped with several lathe configurations for columns, balusters, sculptures and rotational stone components.
Available lathe capacities include:

The G-Rex can be equipped with a digital camera for automatic slab acquisition, laser tool presetting, blade-diameter measurement, automatic slab and table cleaning, suction cups in different heights and specialist surface-treatment tooling.
EasyStone Premium CAD/CAM manages complex five-axis machining, three-dimensional surfaces, sculptural work, bas-reliefs, variable-angle polishing, blade cutting and lathe operations.
Special configurations can include rotating tables, pendulum production, bridge-saw operation and complete automatic lines for loading, cutting, contouring and storage.
