About the Cms Brembana Gixa Large-Format 5-Axis Bridge Saw
The CMS Brembana Gixa is a large-format, numerically controlled five-axis bridge saw designed for demanding slab and stone-block processing.
Its five interpolated axes and tilting cutting head allow the machine to perform straight, shaped, vertical and inclined cutting, together with three-dimensional profiling and milling operations.
The Gixa is particularly suited to manufacturers processing thick natural stone, large architectural components, dimensional stone and stone blocks. Its high structural rigidity and extensive axis travel provide the capacity required for difficult and oversized machining applications.
A bridge stroke of 4250 mm allows the machine to process large slabs and blocks efficiently. The Z-axis can be configured from 900 to 1400 mm, providing significantly greater vertical capacity than standard bridge saws.
The machine can use diamond blades from 400 to 1200 mm in diameter. With a 1200 mm blade, the Gixa can process material up to 440 mm thick at 90ยฐ and up to 315 mm thick at 45ยฐ.
This combination of large blade diameter, deep Z-axis travel and rigid open-frame construction makes the Gixa particularly effective for thick workpieces, large-format stone elements and block-processing applications.
The head rotates around the fourth axis and tilts around the fifth axis, allowing accurate straight cuts, mitres, inclined cuts and compound geometries without repeated manual repositioning.
The open-frame structure is installed on concrete or fabricated support shoulders, providing the stability and stiffness required for high-load cutting and machining.
All principal movements are driven by brushless motors combined with precision reduction systems. Hardened and ground guides with ball-bearing transmission support accurate and controlled movement throughout the full working area.
The Gixa can work in a single continuous machining cycle or step by step, depending on the shape and complexity of the component.
It is suitable for marble, granite, natural stone, engineered stone, composite stone and ceramic materials, as well as large and thick stone blocks.
An optional vacuum manipulator can lift and reposition cut pieces automatically. The standard maximum load is up to 500 kg, with an optional 1000 kg version available for the Gixa and Sprint models.
This automated handling helps optimise slab layouts, reduce manual intervention and safely move thick or heavy components across the working table.
The machine can also be equipped with a wide range of working tables, including fixed and tilting designs with wood, rubber or aluminium working surfaces.
Additional options include large-capacity lathes for turning and shaping cylindrical stone components. Available lathe sizes include 700 mm, 1200 mm and 1500 mm diameter versions, with capacities up to 10,000 kg.
CMS Smart Saw software provides manual, semi-automatic and automatic operation for single, multiple, circular, horizontal and parametric cutting.
EasySTONE CAD/CAM supports advanced drilling, milling, profiling, polishing, engraving and three-dimensional machining. The software can import common 2D and 3D file formats and simulate the complete machining cycle before production.
The Gixa can also be configured for pendular machining, automatic unloading and integration into automated production lines.
Stone & Glass Group supplies the CMS Brembana Gixa throughout the United Kingdom and Ireland, supported by project consultation, layout planning, installation, commissioning, operator training, tooling, spare parts, service and technical support.
