About the Cms Ypsos Vertical Glass Machining Centre
The CMS Ypsos is a high-performance vertical glass machining centre developed for manufacturers requiring maximum reliability, flexibility and productivity. Built on more than 50 years of CMS experience in machine-tool design, Ypsos is suitable for processing flat and laminated glass across a wide range of architectural, interior and specialist applications.
Depending on the selected configuration, Ypsos can perform arrising, industrial or polished edge grinding, milling and coaxial drilling. It is available in three standard sizes and can process glass sheets up to 6000 ร 3300 mm, with additional sizes available on request. Glass thicknesses from 3 to 30 mm can be processed.
Ypsos can be equipped with a second spindle for faster arrising and grinding operations. CMS states that the twin-spindle configuration can complete an arrising cycle on a 2000 ร 1000 mm sheet in 33 seconds and reduce polished-edge grinding time by 15% compared with a single-spindle setup.
The machine offers advanced tool management, including up to two rotary magazines with 13 ISO 40 positions each, automatic grinding-wheel and core-bit truing, optional laser tool presetting and continuous tool-wear monitoring. The operator selects the required machining processes and the software identifies the correct available tool or warns when a tool is missing or approaching the end of its service life.
A redesigned suction-cup carriage provides secure handling of both small and large sheets, while optional automatic measurement identifies glass length, height, thickness and out-of-square conditions. The system can compensate for dimensional errors of up to ยฑ5 mm when planning the machining path.
Ypsos can operate as a standalone machining centre, in line with a drilling and milling machine, or as part of an insulated glass production line. It can also be integrated with automatic loading systems, robots, paper-separation systems and pallet-management solutions.
Stone & Glass Group supplies the CMS Ypsos throughout the United Kingdom, Ireland and the Benelux, supported by system specification, installation, commissioning, operator training, tooling, servicing, spare parts and comprehensive after-sales support.
