About the Bovone Glass Laminating Line
The Bovone Glass Laminating Line is a modular and fully customisable production system for manufacturing high-quality laminated safety glass with PVB interlayers.
Available in automatic, semi-automatic and manually assisted configurations, each line is designed around the customerโs required glass dimensions, production volumes, level of automation and available factory space.
The laminating line can be arranged in a conventional straight layout, a compact U-shaped configuration or with vertical glass loading and washing to reduce the overall footprint. This flexibility allows Bovone to develop complete production systems for both large manufacturing facilities and sites where floor space is limited.
Each line is assembled from integrated modules covering glass loading, washing, inspection, assembly, PVB storage and application, heating, pressing and unloading. Individual modules can be selected, automated and configured according to the required production process.
Glass loading can be carried out manually or automatically using robotic handling equipment. Depending on the selected layout, panels can enter the line horizontally or vertically. Vertical loading and washing provide a particularly compact solution by reducing the amount of floor space required at the beginning of the line.
Before entering the clean assembly area, each glass panel passes through a Bovone washing machine. The washer can be configured with different brush types and air-knife arrangements according to the glass and coating requirements. An illuminated inspection area can be included at the washer exit to help operators confirm that the glass is clean before assembly.
Inside the clean room, the glass is aligned and transferred automatically to the assembly table. An overhead suction-cup carriage can collect the panel from the vertical washer, rotate it into the horizontal position and place it precisely onto the table.
The suction cups are manufactured from specialist materials designed to avoid marking the glass. Self-closing valves allow the handling system to adapt automatically to different panel dimensions, including jumbo-size glass.
The PVB section can include storage for multiple rolls, allowing operators to change between different interlayer types efficiently. Bovone lists a standard magazine capacity of six rolls, with an optional configuration for eight rolls.
Depending on the selected automation level, the PVB film can be positioned and cut manually, applied using a servo-controlled semi-automatic system or completely unwound, positioned, cut and trimmed automatically.
The assembled laminated panel then passes through the heating and pressing section. Bovoneโs latest-generation hybrid convection oven combines forced hot-air convection with infrared radiation. These two heating technologies can operate independently or together according to the glass construction, coating and interlayer being processed.
The forced-air convection system heats the air through internal electrical resistance elements rather than relying solely on infrared lamps. This supports uniform temperature distribution, flexible process control and reduced energy consumption.
Individual infrared lamps can be managed independently, while the intuitive control system allows operators to create and recall processing settings for different laminated-glass constructions.
Adjustable nip rollers remove trapped air from the assembled panel and apply controlled pressure according to the thickness and construction of the laminate. The completed panel can then be unloaded manually or automatically using robotic handling equipment.
Bovone laminating lines can process glass panels up to approximately 3330 mm wide and 6000 mm long, depending on the selected configuration. Systems can also be configured for laminated constructions up to 100 mm thick, subject to the final line specification.
Panel traceability can be integrated to support production control, quality assurance and the recording of individual processing stages.
The modular construction allows the line to develop alongside the customerโs production requirements. Additional automation, robotic loading, PVB handling and processing modules can be added or reconfigured as production volumes and product requirements change.
Stone & Glass Group supplies Bovone glass laminating lines throughout the United Kingdom, Ireland and the Benelux, supported by project consultation, layout design, installation, commissioning, operator training, spare parts, servicing and comprehensive after-sales support.
