About the Cms Speed 3- or 4-Axis CNC Glass Machining Centre
The CMS Speed is a highly configurable 3- or 4-axis horizontal CNC machining centre developed for processing thin and thick flat glass, laminated glass and bullet-resistant glass.
It can perform grinding, edge polishing, drilling, milling, diamond-disc cutting, engraving, lettering and bevelling up to approximately 5 degrees.
The Speed uses a gantry system on the Y axis. Two brushless servomotors, electronically synchronised by the numerical control, move the crossbeam accurately while reducing positioning errors caused by mechanical elasticity.
A heavy, ribbed, electrically welded and stress-relieved monoblock steel base provides the structural rigidity required for demanding machining and continuous production.
The large worktable is manufactured from 18 mm duraluminium, providing a durable and stable support surface. CMS states that the table can be resurfaced more than ten times, helping extend its service life.
A fully rubberised suction surface supports secure glass positioning during machining. The worktable is approximately 500 mm above floor level, making the machine accessible while simplifying loading and unloading.
Automatic front doors allow the Speed to be integrated with automatic glass-loading equipment while maintaining operator safety.
The machine can be configured with three interpolated axes or an optional continuous 360-degree fourth rotary axis.
The fourth axis enables the use of angular transmissions and specialist tooling for cup-wheel polishing, diamond-disc cutting, engraving and 5-degree bevelling.
The tool-storage system is highly modular. Magazines can be positioned at the rear, along the sides or beneath the crossbeam according to the required machine layout and production process.
An under-beam magazine can accommodate up to 24 tool cones and supports automatic tool changes in under ten seconds, depending on the selected configuration.
The Speed can be supplied with a 13.5 kW electrospindle operating at up to 15,000 rpm or a more powerful 30 kW spindle operating at up to 12,000 rpm.
Dynamic polishing-wheel compensation controls the pressure applied during polishing, helping maintain consistent edge quality as the tool wears.
An automatic lubrication system supplies the principal machine components at programmed intervals, reducing manual maintenance.
Optional automatic tool measurement detects tool dimensions with centesimal precision, helping maintain machining accuracy and compensate for tool wear.
Automatic dressing equipment can restore diamond grinding wheels at programmed intervals, ensuring that tooling remains in suitable condition for production.
A cerium-oxide system is available for high-quality felt polishing. It continuously mixes the polishing compound and supplies it directly to the working area.
The Speed can also be equipped with an undercut-drilling unit, automatic cone cleaning, laser suction-cup projection and systems for copying templates.
EasyGlass CAD/CAM software manages glass-component drawing, toolpaths, tool selection, suction-cup positioning, machining simulation, production time and costing.
The optional Smart Production Manager uses barcode scanning to load the correct machining program automatically, reducing programming delays and helping organise batch production. Models and Configurations
CMS Speed MB
Monoblock 3- or 4-axis horizontal CNC machining centre for flexible glass processing, available with different working lengths and tooling arrangements.
CMS Speed Twin
Twin-head configuration for machining two identical components simultaneously. The two independent heads can also be separated so the machine operates with one head when required.
CMS Speed TR
3- or 4-axis horizontal CNC machining centre designed for larger working areas and customised production requirements, with separate machine supports rather than a monoblock base.
CMS Speed Open Frame
Open-frame version for large-format glass and highly configurable production layouts. The separate-support construction allows the working dimensions, table arrangement and tool-storage system to be adapted around the application.
Stone & Glass Group supplies and supports the CMS Speed throughout the UK, Ireland and the Benelux, including application advice, installation, commissioning, operator training, software, tooling, spare parts and technical service.
