About the LineScanner Reflection
The LineScanner Reflection detects white haze on tempered glass, a critical cosmetic defect that is difficult to see with the human eye. White haze appears as foggy areas or repetitive stripes on the glass surface, often called ghosting, most commonly as a long blemish in the centre of the glass but also near edges and corners. It has no official standard, and detecting it has traditionally relied entirely on subjective manual inspection.
Up to 80 percent of white haze issues are caused by processes before tempering, most often glass dust from edge grinding that is not properly washed off and fuses onto the glass during tempering. The remaining cases usually come from residue on furnace rollers, which causes tiny scratches on the glass surface.
Softsolution developed a unique reflection based scanning technology, invented and developed in cooperation with Glaston, that makes this defect clearly visible. High resolution imaging sensors at 400 dpi, equivalent to 250 megapixels per square metre of inspected area, capture the very fine surface changes using short wave light. Every image is interpreted by an AI based algorithm developed with experienced people from the tempering industry and trained on thousands of images. A modular design allows hardware of almost any width or height at a constant resolution.
The system classifies white haze in different levels, from mild through medium to strong, and includes a self cleaning system with an integrated blow off function.
