HST Heat Soak Test Oven

The Mazzaroppi HST Heat Soak Test Oven is designed for the controlled testing of toughened safety glass, helping identify glass containing critical nickel sulphide (NiS) inclusions that could lead to spontaneous breakage after installation.

Heat Soak Testing subjects toughened glass to a controlled thermal cycle. Glass containing critical inclusions is encouraged to break safely within the test environment, reducing the risk of spontaneous failure once the finished glass has been installed.

The Mazzaroppi HST provides glass processors with the ability to incorporate this important quality-control process directly into their own production, particularly where toughened glass is being manufactured for demanding architectural, façade and commercial glazing applications.

The system is designed around controlled heating, temperature uniformity and accurate management of the complete test cycle, providing a consistent and repeatable process for each load.

For manufacturers already operating a Mazzaroppi tempering furnace, the HST can form part of a complete in-house toughened glass production process. Mazzaroppi has supplied HST equipment alongside its tempering technology; a recent installation at Glaverouest in France combined a TP Compact furnace with a 2000 × 4000 mm Heat Soak Test machine.

The HST is particularly relevant for manufacturers supplying large architectural projects and safety-critical glazing, where Heat Soak Testing may be specified by the customer, architect or project requirements.
